WHAT IS AN ALLOTMENT?
An allotment is an area of land, leased either from a private or local authority landlord, for the use of growing fruit, flowers and vegetables. An allotment is traditionally measured in (rods), an old measurement dating back to Anglo-Saxon times. 5 rods is accepted as a full plot and this is equivalent of 125 square metres or about the size of a tennis court.
The allotment located at Bullbeggars lane, Horsell, Woking, GU21 4SQ is owned by Woking Borough Council and it is classified as a statutory site with a 21 year lease starting in 2023 and protected by the Allotments Acts.
WHO WE ARE
Our site is located at Bullbeggars lane, Horsell, Woking, GU21 4SQ. The allotment site has approximately 110 small, medium and large plots. Access is gained through lockable gates located on the junction of Bullbeggars lane and Sythwood.
We are a community of friendly gardeners managing our individual plots growing a variety of fruit, flowers, vegetables and herbs.
Our membership comes from a wide range of cultural and ethnic backgrounds which we are justifiably proud.
Whether you are an experienced or novice gardener, an allotment could offer you more than you think – it could provide you with a new hobby, exercise and fresh home grown, even organic, produce. It’s a great way to save money as well as encourage a healthier lifestyle.
